One Day
March 4th, 2009Walk along this path and you’ll see
How painful this life can really be
Force the dragon through the needle
Leave his tracks around you on the floor
You won’t feel anything anymore
Come around with eyes blurry and red
Not much more and you’ll be dead
Struggle and stand just to fall back down
Your head is pounding and mouth is dry
Stare out the window as time passes by
Finally you’re up and heading to the door
Hungry, weak, and tired, but you need more
Pull the hood up to block out the stares
Sit alone on the bus, no one comes close
Slowly the pain in your stomach grows
Climb off the bus at the next stop
Enter the building and head to the top
Glance around and bang on the door
A quick exchange and your on your way
Soon you’ll have no memory of today
Needle and syringe appear by your side
Fingers tremble as a rubber strap is tied
The dragon is knocking at the gates
It breaks the skin as you let him in
The cycle has repeated itself again
Your eyes roll back showing white
Body is worn out with no more fight
The world turns to haze and it’s gone
Good byes are said and tears are shed
Not today, but one day you’ll be dead
No reason to rush the inevitable.
